A distinct shortage of data here. Let's start with the basics.
Documentation
Kallyr is a Sartarite female. Since she's a Vingan, she has red hair. She has a crystal from a star,
and to judge by the nickname, she often wears this on her forehead.
Yes, that's all we know about her, officially. Sorry.
Can we deduce any more? Well, she's a competent (very competent!) warrior, so presumably isn't a
wimp. I'd guess that she relies more on speed than on strength or size simply on the grounds of being
female, but she certainly isn't weak.
Quite a few blokes seem to like her. A lot. And in the High Council scenario one of the other female
NPCs is concerned that her husband is about to be nicked. She's described at one point as Pole Star's
favourite lover: and he's a deity, so has a wide range to choose from. I think we can assume that
Kallyr is pretty good-looking, and is not averse to making the most of it.
Pictures
Do we have any pictures? Yes, we do: but sadly they aren't up to much.
The High Council scenario includes a picture of a woman with a star-shaped tattoo on her face. Not
a crystal. She has a collection of scars, an unpleasant expression, and is wielding a spear (peasant's
weapon, or Solar weapon). It's remotely possible that this is meant to be Kallyr. If so, they got it
wrong.
Enclosure I has a story entitled "Kallyr's Flame", and a brief biography of her (by me). It also
has a picture, which.... let's just say I was disappointed. I'm not saying I could do better, but
personally I wouldn't have printed that.
The RQ3 boxed set has a red-haired female warrior on the front of the box. Since this is Fantasy
Europe rather than Glorantha, it probably isn't meant to be Kallyr, but if you're desperate for a
picture of her, this is about as good an approximation as you're going to get. Crystal on the forehead,
iron armour, 2H-spear(?), and accompanied by a male warrior who looks very Orlanthi to me. Maybe that's
Broyan.
Bits I've made up.
I have very little basis for any of this, but I needed more detail. Any stories I write will assume
this lot: feel free to borrow or alter as needed.
Her hair was dyed red when she joined Vinga. Before that, she was blonde (quite a cute kid, but that
was a while ago). She's one of the Vingans whose hair went naturally red on attaining Rune level, but eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. are still blonde.
The House of Sartar seems to have a tendency to grey eyes (the evidence for this is slight, but
exists!). I think she's got grey eyes too.
Height, weight etc.: athletic rather than chunky build, but definitely female. Say about 5'8": a bit
above average female height, but not much. Very high DEX, and it shows: graceful, and so on.
I'd guess that she's usually had enough access to magical healing to have avoided major scars, at
least in obvious locations. Sword callouses would seem obvious.
Equipment: depends on what she's doing (in this period, disguise is often a good move). Her preferred
weapon is an iron bastard sword, which she often uses two-handed. (The RQ rules may not believe it, but
in reality you get more damage this way: it's a more aggressive approach). She's got a very nice
composite bow, a present from a Yelornan friend. Armour will depend on what she can get hold of at the
time. Plate has to be made to fit the wearer, and she may not always be able to carry it around openly.
An iron mail hauberk seems more likely, but if she's been in hiding, leathers and a lot of spells would
be entirely possible.
Disguises
I'm sure you can make up your own, but here's some ideas. To start with, that crystal works perfectly
well when worn out of sight, and covering red hair isn't exactly difficult. Also bear in mind that she
has Aeolian friends down in Heortland: some sort of amulet that does a permanent Detection Blank on her
more magical equipment wouldn't be that hard.
Standard Sartarite warrior. Easy. There's lots of them around, guarding caravans and so on. She's
the one at the back, scruffy armour and battered scabbard, doesn't say a lot. If she actually gets
involved in a fight then this disguise is blown, as she always forgets to tone down just how good she
is.
Travelling herbalist. No, really. She does actually know this stuff, she grew up with it. Obviously
no weapons or armour are visible (nor in easy reach). It's a good cover for wandering around talking to
people, and she uses it a lot in Prax: sometimes alone, sometimes with "bodyguards" (well, it would
look a bit suspicious if she didn't have any!) See my comments i
n the Sun County section for more detail.
Trader. Not a great success, this, but she keeps trying. She's aware that Sartar was a Hero of Issaries, so is trying to learn about Issaries in order to learn about Sartar. Unfortunately she has problems with the famous cult neutrality and is far too honest to be any good at bargaining.
