A lullaby for Pippa

A present for the parents of a new baby, with many references to their Far Isles persona backgrounds. This is based on the English translation(s) of "All through the night". The first verse is more or less "straight", after that it's all mine.

Sleep, my child and peace attend thee,
All through the night
Quiet dreams the gods will send thee
All through the night
They should of all fears disarm thee,
No forebodings should alarm thee,
We will let no peril harm thee,
All through the night

While the pigeon loft is creaking
All through the night
Winged birds your mother seeking
All through the night
Slumber, sweet one, keep on sleeping
Nothing your way will come creeping
Sophocles his watch is keeping
All through the night

Though there sings a minstrel lonely
All through the night
Thank the stars that 'tis him only
All through the night
Should the gathered bards start singing
Set their mistuned harps a-pinging
We will hear the echoes ringing
All through the night

While the much-loved Hare is Dancing
All through the night
And its patrons keep on prancing
All through the night
Short of seeking new adoption
Self-defence your only option:
Learn to snore and that may stop them
All through the night

(For when she's older)
Though there sings a minstrel lonely
All through the night
Heed thou not his looks so comely
All through the night
He thinks what he should not oughta
Marriage, for your father's daughter
Like a lamb unto the slaughter
All through the night
